Benniganahalli

Second in the list of the flyover Projects was the Benniganahalli Structure. Built on 477 pile Foundations in a lake, it is Speacially designed to withstand Seismic forces. The deepest pile is Anchored at a dept of 30 mts.

This fly over connects the outer ring Road with Old Madras Road . Costing Rs.35crores and spanning 2 kms long with 6 lanes, it stands majestically against the back drop of the beautifully rejuvenated water body.

Central Silk Board

Another mammoth project followed the third on BDA's striking list of successes. The Central Silk Board Flyover (CSB Flyover) is an impressive Solution to the problem of increase Vehicles and traffic jams. Bangalore 's Roads laid decades back are just not Able to take the exponential increase in The number of vehicles in the city. The CSB Flyover literally offers a breath of fresh air. Easting the flow of traffic, reducing driving time while saving precious fuel, it is a sheer pleasure to drive over.

530 mts, long with 6 lanes and a special provision for rainwater harvesting, the CSB Flyover is he widest flyover in the country.Communting is far easier now to And from Hosur Road and Electronics City because of this flyover. It has a unique anti-skid finish to prevent high-speed collisions especially during monsoons. The project cost is Rs. 23.30 crores.

Hebbal

Close on the heels of the Benniganahalli project was the Construction of BDA's fourth High priority infrastructure project The Hebbal flyover. Built at a cost of Rs.66.2 crores. It is a giant venture Between BDA, NHAL and the railways. It is 5.35 kms long with 2 carriageways,And has 6 lanes and 6 loops. The Hebbal flyover is largely responsible for easing the traffic on NH 7.

Hebbal interchange is the longest flyover in the country. It will be a gateway to the Proposed international Airport near Devanahalli.

Outer Ring Road

The remarkable transformation of BDA began with a seemingly endless project that was awarded high-priority, the decade old outer ring road project, designed to built a communication system that fostered easy flow of vehicular traffic, Was moving at a snail's pace. Against Incredible odds and an impossible deadline the project was successfully Completed in just 8 months, at a total cost Of182 crore. The outer ring road covers a total length of 62 kms and connects all the major roads and highways in and around Bangalore .

Adding to the basic construction, BDA provided state-of-art lighting For the entire stretch of the outer ring Road. Signs and other essential street Furnitures give the road a pictureseque And yet uncluttered look. The project Is a fine example of BDA's proactive Commitment to developing the city.

Whitefield

The next mega project moved BDA From the domain of developing and Distributing sites into arena of creating Infrastructure with the construction of Flyover. Four complex flyovers, located At whitefield near K.R.Puram Railway Bridge, Benneganahalli, Central silk Board on hosur road, and the complex Interchange at Hebbal were completed in Record time. While the contruction of Flyover at Dairy circle, Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology on Bannerghatta Circle and airport road are well under Way.One more flyover has been Taken up at Anand Rao circle. The transformation of bangalore Aontinues as its citizens watch the City metamorphose everyday into a Model city,of the future.

Whitefield flyover: a unique flyover With a curved structure, it is built on The ORR, connected at Whitefeild Road. It is 478 mts long, 11 mts wide Supported by a massive obligatory Span of 60.5 mts each costing Rs.6 crores.

Eco-Friendly Projects

BDA has done pioneering work in addressing environmental issues and familiarizing use of recycled water. The first major initiative to make non- potable recycled water available in a big way has been initiated by BDA within the City.

The tertiary treatment plant at Lalbagh is now in a position to meet the non-potable water requirement to an extent of nearly 15 lakh litres per day with its fully automated dispensing units. These very customer-friendly contraptions in position have attracted the attention of both users and environmentalists alike. This is a giant step in promoting use of recycled water and conserving potable water.

Encouraged by this success, BDA has ventured another tertiary treatment plant in the biggest lung space in Bangalore City viz., Cubbon Park and the work is progressing round the clock. The Park extending over 300 acres of land had no dedicated water source. The Plant is at the completion stage and has a capacity of recycling 15 lakhs litres sewage per day. Both these recycling plants treat raw sewage and the final product is clearer than the bottled potable water.

Customer satisfaction in use of non- potable water is something that is to be seen to be believed.

The Green tech Foundation of India have conferred the Silver Trophy during November 2004, recognizing the efforts made by Bangalore Development Authority in promoting recycled water and conserving potable water, is a testimony to the pioneering achievement.

The most major break - through BDA is witnessing is in its customer relations.

With a view to entrusting the elements of transparency and greater accountability and answerability among staff, computerisation and digitisation of data has been initiated on a war footing. This process involves acquisition and lan wan training of the staff networking, remote access, visact etc., as a customer centric, BDA is introduced complete and planned redressal system with fully integrated online complaint management system (OCMS) and Interactive voice response system (IVRS)

A pilot multi purpose kiosks (e-Pragathi), is ready for launch. This facility provides access to all information, complete registration, complete monitoring, checking of the status of complaints. In addition, it is also equipped to down load, digitised maps, information updates, allotment forms and host of other material relating to the activities of BDA. This will enable Bangaloreans to access everything they need or require from BDA at their door steps instead of them making it to the Authority all the way. This is among the most ambitious customer friendly planned by any Development Authority of the Country and of the State. Kiosks will be the first in its kind in Asia which remove iron curtains and makes everything transparent. The new web site of BDA planned will be another window.   TOP

Grade Separator along Outer Ring Road at the intersection of ORR and Magadi Road

Bangalore is rated to be one of the fastest growing cities in Asia and there has been
steep increase in volume of vehicles on the city roads. This is seriously being felt at
the intersections and affecting intra-city commuting with increased travel time,
accident rates and pollution levels. As such, to decongest this part and ease traffic
movement, BDA has taken up the construction of Grade Separator at Magadi Road-
ORR Intersection.

Magadi Road-ORR intersection leads to Tumkur Road(NH-4)towards North and Mysore
Road in southern direction, Magadi on west and towards Majestic (Central Business
District) area on eastern direction. The land use around the project area is mostly
commercial in nature particularly towards Magadi Road.

The Grade Separator under execution is a bi-directional Flyover with 2x11m wide
divided carriageway with 1 m wide median. The axis of the Flyover is along ORR and
is 741.43 m long. The proposed Grade Separator will run along ORR and cut across
the junction, catering to the straight traffic. It will have approach ramps from Tumkur
Road side and Mysore Road side. In addition, it is also proposed to provide 7.5 m wide
service roads with 2.75 m wide footpath cum drain.

The provision of the Flyover will result in a relief of 57.64% to the overall traffic at the
junction as it segregates around 2535 PCU’s/hr of the total traffic. Turning
movements along other arms will be controlled by a 3 phase signal at the junction.

BMRCL is proposing a Mono Rail type of Mass Transit system extending from Mysore
Road to Tumkur Road following Magadi Road Alignment through Magadi Road-ORR
junction to join Toll gate Metro Station. The Mono Rail Corridor is to be integrated
with the proposed Grade Separator which could be done at the stage of detailed
designs. Under this condition, BMRCL have given go-ahead for BDA to take up the
proposed Grade Separator work.

This project is taken up under the JNNURM scheme with 35% of total expenditure
from Central Government and 15% from State Government and the remaining
amount from BDA sources. The project is planned to be completed in a period of 18
months. The approximate cost of the project is about Rs. 3000 lakhs.

II. Road Works in its new Layouts

BDA made a promise to the allottees that all the infrastructure works will be taken up
and completed in a time bound manner to all its newly formed layouts. Keeping up
this promise, road works in Anjanapura and Banashankari 5th and 6th Stage Layouts
have been completed. Further the remaining interior road works are being taken up
now and will be completed within the next three months time before the onset of
monsoon this year.

• Asphalting of main roads have been completed at Anjanapura Layout at Rs.
296.34 lakhs

• Metalling and asphalting of roads at Banashankari 5th stage and Metalling of
roads to 6th stage have been completed at Rs. 46.00 lakhs and Rs. 409.25
lakhs respectively.

• Metalling and asphalting of internal roads at J.P. Nagar 8th and 9th phase layout
being launched at Rs. 943.20 lakhs.

• Metalling and asphalting of internal roads at Anjanapura and Further Extension
of Anjanapura layout are being launched at Rs. 1211.25 lakhs.

• Metalling and asphalting at Banashankari 6th stage are being launched at Rs.
933.50 lakhs.

III. Creating Extra Commercial Space

Considering the increasing demand for commercial space in this area, BDA has taken
up the work of adding one more floor to the existing BDA complex, there by adding
27,438 Sq. ft. shopping area at an expenditure of Rs. 290 lakhs. The existing complex
has ground and first floor with a total number of 83 shops, in addition, BDA south
